Old-Fashioned Granola

Instead of buying granola the next time you go shopping, buy the ingredients! This amazing homemade granola recipe tastes much better than the store-bought kind and is delightfully easy to make. Make some and watch as your friends and family rave!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds
  • 1/4 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/4 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups old-fashioned rolled oats, 1/4 cup wheat germ, 1/4 cup untoasted sesame seeds, 1/2 cup shelled sunflower seeds, 1/4 cup slivered almonds, and 1/4 cup flaked coconut.
  • Mix thoroughly.
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup honey and 1/3 cup vegetable oil.
  • Pour liquid mixture onto oats.
  • Stir thoroughly, ensuring everything is covered.
  • Place granola mixture in a 12" x 17" pan or on a foil covered flat baking sheet.
  • Evenly spread oats mixture across foil. Bake in 300 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Mix occasionally while baking.
  • Remove from heat and allow a few moments to stand. Keep leftovers in a sealed container.
