Homemade Peach Pie
When it comes to dessert, nothing beats a Homemade Peach Pie. Its flaky, golden-brown crust contains sweet, juicy peaches that will melt in the mouth of anyone lucky enough to get a taste. Use this recipe to make a peach pie of your own!
- 1 pie crust for double crust pie, store bought or homemade
- 1 egg yolk, beaten
- 2 T. water
- 5-6 C. peaches, peeled and sliced
- 2 T. lemon juice
- 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
- 1 C. white sugar
- 1/2 t. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 t. salt
- 2 T. butter
Slice 5-6 cups peeled peaches. Place sliced peaches into a bowl with 2 tablespoons lemon juice. Stir gently.
Combine 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup white sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
Pour over peaches.
Gently stir until peaches are nicely coated. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Place pie crust in pie pan. Mix 1 egg yolk with two tablespoons water and brush over the pie crust to coat. Place peaches in pie crust.
Place 2 tablespoons butter on top of pie filling.
Place top crust over filling. Brush with egg yolk and water mixture. Sprinkle a pinch of sugar over the crust. Place pie in oven heated to 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and bake another 30-35 minutes, or until filling bubbles. Remove from oven and let cool before serving.
