How to Make Homemade Apple Pie
Now is the perfect time of year to make a sweet, savory fresh-baked apple pie. And it’s the perfect time to make apple pie and freeze it for winter! - 5 C. apples (such as McIntosh), peeled, thinly sliced
- 1/4 t. salt
- 2 t. lemon juice
- 2 T. flour
- 1/2 C. sugar
- 1 t. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 C. brown sugar
- 1/4 t. ground nutmeg
Peel five cups of apples, then thinly slice them.
Add two tablespoons of lemon juice to keep the apples from browning.
In a separate bowl, add dry ingredients and blend.
Pour over the apples and stir until the apples are coated.
Now this is ready to bake. Put apple mixture into an unbaked pie shell, dotting with butter.
Put the top crust on, brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar, and put slits in.
Place in a 375 degree oven and bake for 40-55 minutes.
