Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place 1 (14 oz.) package caramels in a large saucepan.
Place 1/3 cup evaporated milk in saucepan with caramels.
Melt over low heat on stovetop.
Chop 1 cup nuts. This can be skipped if you or someone else doesn’t like nuts or has an allergy.
In a large mixing bowl, add 1 (18.2 oz.) package German chocolate cake mix
Add 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine.
Add 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
Stir thoroughly.
Add chopped nuts, if they have been prepared.
Stir ingredients.
Place 1/2 mixture in pan.
Spread evenly. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 6 minutes.
Drizzle melted caramel sauce evenly over cake mixture.
Sprinkle 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips over the caramel.
Spread remaining half of cake mixture across top of caramel sauce.
Bake another 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow brownies to cool. Serve and enjoy!
