- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 2 teaspoons shortening
- 24 chocolate kisses, unwrapped
- 48 sliced almonds
- Red decorating gel
In a small, microwave-safe bowl, melt 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons shortening. Stir until smooth. Holding each cherry by the stem, dip into chocolate mixture, leaving stem uncovered.
Immediately press cherry onto the flat side of a chocolate kiss. Set on baking sheet or cutting board lined with wax paper.
Place two sliced almonds between cherry and chocolate kiss for ears.
From the tube or using a toothpick, place two dabs of red decorating gel on mice, making the eyes. Black decorating gel will do if red is not available. Refrigerate until set.
Serve and enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
