Fool’s Gold Loaf Sandwich Recipe

Here we have the recipe for the very same sandwich that Elvis loved so much! You’ll be surprised at how easy the Fool’s Gold Sandwich is to make! Elvis could supposedly handle an entire Fool’s Gold Loaf sandwich by himself (it’s not called the Elvis Sandwich for nothing), but you’ll probably want to split one up for several people.

Ingredients

  • 2 T. margarine
  • 1 loaf French white bread
  • 1 lb. bacon
  • 1 jar smooth peanut butter
  • 1 jar grape jelly

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Use a large bread knife to slice French bread lengthwise.
  • Spread each side of the bread with margarine. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • While bread is baking, pan-fry bacon and drain on a paper towel.
  • Remove some of the bread from the interior of the baked bread. This creates extra room for the filling.
  • Add jelly to one half and peanut butter to other half. Use as much as you’d like, but don’t be stingy! This sandwich is supposed to indulgent and over the top!
  • Add the cooked bacon. Close the sandwich and slice as desired.
  • Serve and enjoy the sandwich fit for the King!

Notes

Salty, sweet, and delicious! No wonder it’s often called the Elvis Sandwich!
