Luscious Caramel Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
  • 1 (5.3 oz.) can evaporated milk, divided
  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 C. butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 C. chopped nuts, optional
  • 1 C. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place 1 (14 oz.) package caramels in a large saucepan.
  • Place 1/3 cup evaporated milk in saucepan with caramels.
  • Melt over low heat on stovetop.
  • Chop 1 cup nuts. This can be skipped if you or someone else doesn’t like nuts or has an allergy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add 1 (18.2 oz.) package German chocolate cake mix
  • Add 1/2 cup melted butter or margarine.
  • Add 1/3 cup evaporated milk.
  • Stir thoroughly.
  • Add chopped nuts, if they have been prepared.
  • Stir ingredients.
  • Place 1/2 mixture in pan.
  • Spread evenly. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 6 minutes.
  • Drizzle melted caramel sauce evenly over cake mixture.
  • Spread remaining half of cake mixture across top of caramel sauce.
  • Bake another 20 minutes. Remove from heat and allow brownies to cool. Serve and enjoy!
