How to Make Chocolate Mice Video Recipe

Chocolate Mice Video Transcript

Hi from the Rada kitchen, this is Kristy, and I have another Halloween treat idea. This is out of our Class Treats, Birthday Parties & Bake Sales cookbook. What we have here are little edible mice. You can scare your friends at a birthday party or take them to school as a class treat. They’re really easy to make and good to eat, too.

What you need to make the mice are 24 maraschino cherries, and that’s with the stem, because that will be the tail. You need 24 unwrapped chocolate kisses. And you need a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips that have been melted with 2 teaspoons of shortening. This only took about 30 seconds to melt. Then you’ll need about 48 sliced almonds and some red gel coloring for their eyes. If you don’t have red, you can use black.

What you want to do is take a cutting board or baking pan and cover it with wax paper. You just simply dip that cherry in that melted chocolate and then you take the Hershey’s Kiss and make sure it makes a good connection with it. Then I like to break the bottom of these almonds off. 4 little mouse ears. Once you have those all made you put it in the refrigerator until the chocolate is set.

Now with the decorator’s gel, you just simply make little eyes. And it seems like each mouse has its own personality. Kids get a kick out of this because they get to eat a mouse. And that’s a quick little treat for a Halloween or birthday party. It’s good served with our Fish Bowl Punch. That’s one of the recipes in our Class Treats, Birthday Parties & Bake Sales recipe book.
