Candied Bacon on a Stick Video Transcript

Hi, I’m Chef Ted, and today I’m in the Rada Cutlery kitchen. Today I’m going to show you how to make Candied Bacon.

I like to find really good, solid pieces of thick bacon. You can get them right out of your butcher’s case at your supermarket. I like using a bit of agave nectar, which is a little bit of a sweetener from a plant. You probably could use honey. I just run a little bead along each strip of bacon. Take the back of a spoon and spread it evenly.

Now I’m going to take a little bit of brown sugar and lightly sprinkle it over the top. Spread that around. Cook it until it’s boiling and bubbling.

Now we’re going to pull the bacon out of the oven. I’m going to take the bacon out and set it on a plate to cool a little bit before I start handling it.

Now I’m going to take regular shish kebab skewers and I’m going to poke it through. And I’m going to zigzag it up. I’ve just got a regular piece of Styrofoam that came with something that I bought recently. I’m going to stick the skewer in there so they can hang up and cool off and it lets the caramelization set a little bit for it.

Now we’re just going to let the candy set on the bacon. Then it’s ready to serve! Bacon on a stick.
