Who Invented M&M’s?
M&M’s are one of the world’s most beloved candies. They first became known to the world in 1941, when Forrest Mars, Sr. introduced them after being inspired by the sight of Spanish soldiers eating chocolate carried in a shell. The idea behind the shell was to make chocolate easy to carry and eat in warm weather. Now they whole world knows them for their different flavors, colors, and delicious taste!

Peanut Butter M&M Bars Video Transcript
Hi, welcome to the Rada Cutlery kitchen, today I’m going to make a recipe from one of our popular cookbooks titled 101 Recipes with Peanut Butter. Today I’m going to make M&M bars. They’re not only tasty, they’re really colorful, so they’d be great for a bake sale. They’re really easy to make.
We’re going to take 2 cups of oatmeal in a large bowl. To that we’re going to add a cup of brown sugar. We’ll break that apart. Then we’re going to add 1 and a half cups of flour. A half teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of baking soda. We’re going to mix this all together really well. I’m using this Rada Ice Cream Scoop. We use it as a stirring scoop as well, especially if you get into some thick, heavy doughs.
Once you have that mixed together, we’re going to add a cup of melted butter. We’re going to stir that mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs. Now that we have the mixture we’re going to reserve a cup and a half of this, which we’ll put on later as a topping. Then we’re going to press the remainder in a 9 x 13 inch pan, a greased pan. I’m using the Rada Rectangular Baker, which is stoneware you don’t have to grease. It’s the most wonderful thing. You’ll save on calories that way and it’s better for you, and it bakes really nice. So we’re going to press that mixture onto the bottom. And you want your oven preheated to 375 degrees. We’re going to put this in the oven for 12 minutes.
While the crust is baking in the oven we’re going to mix 1/3 cup peanut butter. This is a can of sweetened, condensed milk. We’re going to mix it in a small bowl. I am using creamy peanut butter, I don’t think it matters, you can use chunky if you want. This is a nice Rada spoon with a sturdy steel stem that won’t bend.
When our 12 minutes is up, we’re going to have a cup of M&M’s ready, we’re going to pour them over the crust and add the reserved topping. We’re going to take our crust out of the oven and pour this condensed milk and peanut butter mixture over the top of that. You want to stay a quarter inch away from the edge.
Here’s our cup of reserved crumbs that we’re going to mix with a cup of M&M’s. I’m just going to mix that together. We’ll sprinkle that over the top. You can use the holiday M&M’s with this too. Now we’re just going to slightly press that mixture in. Now we’re going to put this in the oven for another 20 to 22 minutes or until it’s golden brown.
Our M&M bars are golden brown. You want to let them cool and then cut them into bars. That’s one of the recipes in our 101 Recipes with Peanut Butter cookbook.
