Everyone has their favorite dishes served at Thanksgiving. This year, why not add something new to the menu? Acorn squash is a tasty and extremely simple treat to prepare for your guests. Once you try this recipe, you’ll want to add it to your menu every year.

Check out your local farmer’s market or grocery store for acorn squash. Look for a squash that is free of blemishes and one that is dark green in color. Since it’s a winter squash, it can be stored longer and does not require refrigeration.

How to Make Baked Acorn Squash

Ingredients you will need:

  • An acorn squash
  • Water
  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Rada knife & ice cream scoop

1. Cut the squash in half with a slicer. Use the ice cream scoop to hollow out the squash, ridding it of the seeds and pulp—just like you would carve a pumpkin.

2. Place the squash in a Rectangular Baker with water just covering the bottom and bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

3. Turn the squash over and bake for another 15 minutes. Then add butter and brown sugar for taste.

4. Dig in with a spoon. Be sure to scrape off some of the soft flesh of the acorn squash with it!

Some cooks like to add the butter and brown sugar right away before placing it in the oven. Another ingredient to try is maple syrup, drizzling a little over the top of the squash. Just make sure not to turn it over when baking if you prepare your squash this way!

All About Acorn Squash

The acorn squash, which is indigenous to North and Central America, is a good source of dietary fiber and potassium. Smaller amounts of vitamins C and B can also be found in this squash.

Why stop at the squash for a truly all-American meal? All Rada Cutlery products are 100% Made in the USA. The cutlery used in this recipe is the slicer and the ice cream scoop.

Also, be sure to bake your acorn squash in Rada Cutlery Stoneware. Stoneware absorbs heat to maintain an even baking temperature. Plus, it is dishwasher safe.
