Homemade Peppermint Patty Recipe Video Transcript:

Hi Kristy at the Rada Kitchen, today I am going to make a copycat candy bar recipe. This is out of our recipe book called “Copycat Candy Bars”. It’s all the homemade candy bars that you can make yourself with ingredients that you have in your kitchen, they are easy to make, you won’t have any extra additives or preservatives, they make great gifts and best of all they taste good. This book includes recipes such as chocolate covered Almond Joys and a copycat candy for Peanut Butter cups.

Today I am going to make our copycat version of Peppermint Patties. Here’s the ingredients you’ll need — three and a half cups of powdered sugar and a little extra for rolling, a fourth cup of sweetened condensed milk, one to two teaspoons of peppermint extract, two ounces of cream cheese, softened, a cup of dark chocolate candy wafers, one cup of dark chocolate chips, and a half a teaspoon of salt. In a large mixing bowl, we are going to mix our sweetened condensed milk, our softened 2 ounces of cream cheese, peppermint extract and salt. Once you have that mixed up we are going to add the powdered sugar and we are going to add that one cup at a time.   So you will mix in the powdered sugar until the dough is stiff and no longer sticky, just like that. And then you are going to roll little 1 inch balls and roll them in powdered sugar. You will have about 25 candies out of this batch.

Arrange the balls on a pan that is lined with parchment paper and then what you’ll do is take a glass smash them down to about 3/8’s of an inch. Now you’ll want to let these dry at room temperature for about 2 to 3 hours. And then I will come back and put the chocolate on. Now in a microwave safe bowl we are going to melt the chocolate and the candy wafers. I’ll probably put it in for 30 seconds and stir it and then keep stirring it and heating it until it’s all melted. So my chocolate is melted, it took about 60 seconds, I stirred it between every 30 seconds. Now with the centers that I had dry for a couple of hours, you dip it into the chocolate, use a fork. And then you’ll put them on a piece of parchment. Now you can eat these right away or you can keep them in the refrigerator. This is one of over fifty copycat candy bar recipes in our cookbook “Copycat Candy Bars”.
