Buttercream Frosting Video Transcript
Hi, Kristy in the Rada Kitchen, today I’m making Buttercream Frosting. It’s the best frosting to put on cakes, I’m going to put it on some stuffed cookies I’m making in another video. It’s buttery and creamy and easy to make good swirls with your cake tip. And it’s simple ingredients.
What you need is a stick of butter that has been softened. And then a cup and a half of shortening. And we’re just going to cream this together. And to that we’re going to add a teaspoon of vanilla. If you want really white frosting, you’ll want to use the clear. And now I’m just going to gradually add in a bag of powdered sugar. And this is the 2 lb bag, so I’m thinking it’s probably 8 cups. Just stir real gradually. It’s going to act like it’s really dry but we’re going to add milk to it. I like to add all the powdered sugar first. Gradually of course.
You’re going to want to keep your mixture on low, as you can see there’s a lot of powdered sugar spilling out. So now you can hear your mixtures pulling. That means it has your powdered sugar pretty well mixed in. Now we’re just going to slowly add 4 to 6 tablespoons of milk. And as that starts incorporating in you can increase your speed. The faster you get the more whipped it will get. And I like to buzz it on high, let that air whip into it.
And then if you have a decorator bag and a tip, it’s ready to use. Or you can frost it on using a spatula, too. But it just has that nice consistency to make shells. If you want to use it to write you might want to thin it down a bit more with milk. And that is quick and easy Buttercream Frosting. I’m going to make some stuffed cookis that I’m going to use this for, so check out that video too.
